Expedition Intelligence

Everything you need to know before setting foot on the mountain. We brief every climber thoroughly — preparation is what separates success from turning back.

Start Your Expedition
Kilimanjaro is a non-technical trek — no ropes or specialist climbing experience required. However, you should be comfortable hiking 6–8 hours per day with a daypack. We recommend a 3-month preparation programme including cardio and hill walking.
The two optimal climbing windows are January–March and July–October. These offer the clearest summit conditions and the most stable weather. We do operate climbs year-round but advise against the main rainy season (April–May).
We provide a comprehensive kit list after booking. Key items include layered clothing (temperatures range from 30°C at the gate to −15°C at the summit), quality hiking boots, trekking poles, and a sleeping bag rated to −15°C. We can arrange equipment hire for most items.
Altitude sickness is the primary reason climbers do not reach the summit. Our routes are chosen for their superior acclimatisation profiles. Our guides monitor climbers using pulse oximeters daily. We carry supplemental oxygen and have a clear descent protocol in the rare event it is needed.
All our expeditions include: private IFMGA-certified guide, full porter team (porter-to-climber ratio never exceeds 1:1), luxury sleeping equipment, all park fees and rescue fees, daily briefings, a summit certificate, and airport transfers. Flights and visas are arranged separately.
